La Petite French School d'Aberdeen

A school where children build confidence in French, both spoken and written.

Introducing our school

La Petite French School d’Aberdeen is dedicated to French-speaking and bilingual children in the Aberdeen area. Our mission is to enable each child to progress at their own pace in their command of French, within an encouraging, caring and motivating environment.

We offer French classes adapted to different ages and levels on Saturday mornings. Through interactive activities, creative projects and a positive teaching approach, children gradually develop their confidence in French, both spoken and written.

Our teaching is based on the French national curriculum, adapted to the needs of children growing up in a bilingual environment. We focus on building strong foundations in reading, writing, speaking and comprehension.

Open to all French-speaking families, La Petite French School aims to encourage exchanges, connections and a sense of belonging within a multicultural community.

Children are grouped according to their age and level of French. We aim to create small, balanced groups, with a reasonable age gap of no more than two years between pupils, in order to ensure suitable learning and a positive class dynamic.

Our objective is to enable children to maintain and develop their spoken and written French, while also strengthening their self-confidence.

We aim to provide a caring, stimulating and motivating learning environment where each child can progress at their own pace.

Our teaching team is made up of experienced teachers who are passionate about education and the transmission of the French language.

They are active in Scottish education, either in the public or private sector, and/or provide private French tuition.

The FLAM network (Français Langue Maternelle) is a scheme created by the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs and managed by the Agency for French Education Abroad, the AEFE.

It supports non-profit associations abroad that offer extracurricular activities in French for French-speaking children and teenagers aged 3 to 18.

These activities aim to help children maintain their use of French and develop their connection with the French language and Francophone culture.

No, it is not necessary to speak perfect French.

We welcome children with different levels of French, provided they are already exposed to the French language at home. This generally means that at least one parent speaks French with the child.

This regular exposure helps the child understand the purpose of the Saturday classes, make progress more easily and strengthen their connection with the French language.

You can enrol your child by completing our registration form.

An assessment will be sent once the registration form has been completed.

The results should be included in the registration form. If you are unable to complete the online test, a teacher will be able to assess your child’s level in order to place them in the most suitable class.
