A day in the life of... Alice.
Lego, lunch and learning…read about a typical day at preschool from one of our students.
“When I get to preschool, I find my Lego block with my name on it and I put it on a board so the preschool teachers know I am here. The teachers say ‘good morning Alice’, and then I put my bag in my cubby and hang my jacket up too.
“Then I go and wash my hands so I can play! The first thing I like to play with is Lego, or I could play with farm animals, or the sand and water.
“When I feel like I need something to eat, I wash my hands and get my snack from my bag and take it to the table to eat it. Then we go to the library if it’s library day and I get to pick a book that I want to take home.
“When we are back at preschool I go outside to play. If I’m playing at the bottom I need to put on my jacket and shoes, but if I’m going to the top, I need my wellies and my suit so we can play in the mud!
“Then I need to wash my hands and have lunch. My favourite is the chicken curry. When we finish, we put our plates on the trolley and sometimes we get to push the trolley back to the cafeteria with Miss Andrea.
“After lunch, we sit in the pod for stories. We put our pegs on our favourite one and the story with the most pegs is the story we read. I chose the Peter Rabbit one.
“Sometimes we go for a walk to places like the playpark or the astro pitch and I sometimes see my sisters and cousin.
“We sit down and play a wee game that’s really fun, then we pack up and put our coat in our bags and wait for our parents to come, and that’s the end of the day. When all the children are gone the teachers pack all the things up and go home to bed. And then in the morning we do the same thing again – and I can’t wait to come back!”
