Students win £3,000 for charity through YPI.
Generation Change!
Recently, our Grade 9 Global Perspective class took part in YPI Scotland’s Youth and Philanthropy Initiative (YPI).
In small groups, the students identified an issue that was important to them and identified associated local and wider Scottish charities supporting the cause.
Our students made contact with the chosen charity and met virtually to learn more about their work. A video presentation profiling the charity was also created and a panel of judges from within the ISA community scored the videos based on criteria supplied by YPI.
The winning teams’ video was ‘Aberdeen Cyrenians’ – who provide care and support for vulnerable people in the North East. As their prize, the students have secured a £3,000 donation for their charity from The Wood Foundation.
This is the second year that ISA have taken part of the programme, and we are excited to continue the initiative each year with our Grade 9 Global Perspectives class. The programme gives our students the opportunity to identify and work with charities as well as express creativity through their presentations, not to mention strengthen their collaboration skills when working closely with classmates.
