Back in 2016, ISA was proud to receive its first EcoSchools Green Flag award. Since then, our Environmental and EcoSchools Clubs have successfully renewed the award each year and expanded their efforts across more aspects of the UN’s Sustainability Goals.
The Environmental Club is an important agent of change as we try to nurture 'socially responsible, active global citizens' and minimise the school's impact on the environment. Recently this group has turned its attention to progressing ISA through the Fair Trade award levels.
The school is also playing a more prominent role locally with a successful annual Sustainability Conference hosted every second year at ISA and Robert Gordon's College.
Across the school, we actively engage and encourage a more environmental lifestyle with education for sustainable development being infused into many aspects of the curriculum.
Specific courses further support the school’s mission with all students in Grades 9 and 10 studying Global Perspectives; a course that promotes international mindedness and includes the Youth Philanthropy Initiative. IGCSE (Environmental Management) and IBDP (Environmental Systems and Societies) sustainability-focused courses are also available to students who wish to learn more about our relationship with the environment.
