ISA joins Aberdeen’s Doors Open Day

07/09/2025

We were absolutely delighted to be a part of this year's Doors Open Day, a fantastic city-wide initiative that encourages discovery and connection. It was a wonderful opportunity to throw open our doors and welcome members of the Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire community to come and see what makes our school so special.

We were absolutely delighted to be a part of this year’s Doors Open Day, a fantastic city-wide initiative that encourages discovery and connection. It was a wonderful opportunity to throw open our doors and welcome members of the Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire community to come and see what makes our school so special.

Our visitors enjoyed a fascinating introduction to the history of ISA, from Nick Little, Head of School, who spoke about our start in 1972 right up to the current day.  They were then taken on a tour of the campus led by some of our enthusiastic staff and students.

We have to give a special mention to our ‘High School Ambassadors’ who did an absolutely brilliant job. They spoke with such pride about their experiences, giving our guests a true insight into day-to-day life at our school.

One of the highlights this year was showing off our new immersive room and sensory space. The room was buzzing with excitement all day! Adults loved the ‘museum’ feel, getting hands-on with the interactive walls, while the children had a fantastic time playing some of the active maths and phonics games. The space truly has something for everyone.

The day also sparked some exciting conversations, and we’re hopeful that one of these might lead to a future collaboration with the computing department at the University of Aberdeen.

Our doors are not just open for one day – we are always happy to welcome visitors.  In fact, just a day after the event, we had the privilege of showing a visiting couple from the USA around our campus, who had both taught here in the 1980s! We are always happy to show folks around and share the unique energy of our community.

If you missed out on Doors Open Day but would like to visit, your next big opportunity is just around the corner. We will be hosting our Open Days on Thursday, 25th and Friday, 26th September. We would love to see you there!
