Learn about a typical day in the life of one of our elementary school students, Stefano.
“My school day usually kicks off around 8am, when I head down to the cafeteria to catch up with my friends. We chat until our grade gets called, and then we all walk together to class, ready for the day to begin. First up is a quick maths warm-up to get our brains buzzing before lessons start.
“For my first lesson, for example, I might have PE, where we’ll play something like badminton, depending on the time of year.
“After that, it might be art, which is one of my favourite classes. Once I’m in my art lesson, I get to sit on the carpet, listen to my teacher explain the activity, and then dive into something creative.
“Then it’s time for snacks and recess, when I get a break to play with my friends in the park.

“Next, it could be my maths class. This is in my classroom with my regular teacher. This is usually be followed by literacy. The teacher gives us tasks in literacy which is usually pretty fun!
“Lunchtime depends on your grade: if you’re in Grade 3 or above, you play first and then eat; if you’re in Grade 2 or below, you eat first and then head out to play. Everyone gets their turn!
“Afternoons are usually filled with more relaxed activities. Sometimes it’s active learning, which means we might get into teams to solve a puzzle or build a model of something we are learning about. It’s a really fun way to learn. On Fridays we all gather in the ISA theatre for assembly, where we celebrate birthdays, talk about the week ahead and sometimes play a fun quiz together.”
“When the day wraps up, I either get picked up, hop on the bus, or head to one of the after-school clubs. There are so many to choose from – football, judo and loads of other fun activities.”
