Being social is a big part of life at ISA.
Students are given a voice through our Middle & High School Student Councils who regularly meet with the Head of School to discuss the wide range of social activities and extra-curricular programmes that are available to ensure an optimal learning environment.
At ISA, students can participate in various programmes to stretch themselves. For example, BEBRAS (computational thinking) and the CREST Award (Science).
Local experts work with the school to provide activities including the Go4Set science initiative and Ten Feet Tall, Aberdeen’s Theatre Academy as well as several clubs that meet during breaks including:
Furthermore, we regularly arrange motivational and educational guest speakers and field trips to enhance our curriculum. Recent examples include media sessions in Dundee, service learning at Newton Dee and workshops with local artists.
The school has excellent links to the local universities and takes advantage of science open days and specialist lectures.
Each year our Middle School students take advantage of the Scottish countryside to pursue outdoor activities. In support of the Grade 10 curriculum, the year group makes a tour of the Belgium battlefields every March and Grades 9 and 11 undertake a blend of CAS (Creativity-Activity-Service) activities in the UK or continental Europe.
